Solo Piano Arrangement: Kako (Konseki) - Ninomiya Kazunari

... this must be the first time I've ever put anything like this up online.

That aside! With the lull of summer and some time to spare, I went surfing around as usual and wound up listening to Nino's Iza, Now! concert solo. And fell in love with it. Then I tried looking for some sheet music for it (because I'm not very good playing by ear) and couldn't find any to the extent of my limited ability to search.

So I made some. :D Highly recommend using pedal, so the left hand carries a little more.

PDF + MP3 (MU) | JPEG (MU)

If you take the file, comments would be nice but not necessary (just because I don't always comment, and being hypocritical is counterproductive).

In the first compressed file is a PDF version of the transcription and an MP3 of how it sounded on Finale Playback. The second one is four JPEG images of the PDF, for anyone who's in a sticky situation and can't open a PDF, but right now the MP3 is NOT included in the second file.

I probably will not put up my own playing  - I'm honestly not very good - but if you would like to upload your playing of this arrangement, by all means, just please credit the transcription and send me a link because I'd like to hear someone else play it.

It's my first time arranging anything for solo piano (the only prior experience I have with transcription is a capella vocal work) so if anything sounds off, please feel free to leave any feedback for improvement. I'm also open for some requests at the moment, if anyone wants any.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy! I may do a piano/vocal arrangement, if inspiration comes.

I listened to the MP3 and it sounded fine! It was really good. You did a great job with it. I need to play it later (or tomorrow :P) after work.

Thank you! Any feedback after playing it would be much appreciated, if you could. :D

Oh, thank you for your kind words, I'm glad that you thought so. :D (This composition really needs more love. And its composer too XD)

[identity profile] hakka-candy.livejournal.com 2009-08-04 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! I printed it out and did a playthrough and I'm definitely impressed! :D I think it's at just the right level of difficulty too. I'm one of those people who has such a tough time transcribing but give me sheet music and I'm all over it. XD Not to mention I adore this song, so thank you so much! I definitely look forward to more if you plan on doing any more~ &hearts

[identity profile] fluidcomplexity.livejournal.com 2009-08-04 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you so much! Hearing that means a lot to me. I'm glad that it sounded good (because frankly, I had a bit of difficulty playing my own stuff XD).

If you have any ideas as to what I should do next, feel free to give me some songs so I can give them a listen.

THANK YOU.

i'm one of those people who will pick up any sheet music and learn it in 10 mins, but can't play by ear to save her life xD
i just finished listening to the mp3, and honestly it sounds great! to be able to transcribe it is a feat in itself.

keep up the awesome work <3

You're welcome :D

You won't believe how much I wish I could play well XD If you have any feedback on the score itself after you've played it, I'd love to hear it ^^

Oh wow, thank you so much! :D I have been hunting down piano sheets for Nino's angsty solos because they're exactly that kind of music I love to play. 8D

I like how you've done variation for the left hand's melody. The song sounds more "alive" when the left isn't just different chords played with eighth notes.

I tried to play it with my fail!skills just now. Is it just me or are those bars where Câ™ notes are supposed to be THAT dissonancy? (Okay, I'm guessing that's not even a word but I mean that the notes in those bars don't sound pretty together. 8D;;) The right hand sounds just fine but when you add the left, it sounds a bit weird. However, the whole thing sounds good in the mp3 so my piano
might be out of tune, as well as my ears. :D

Gah, it's hard enough to write regular English but now I had to use weird music terms. I think this comment sounds more gibberish than English. 8D

[identity profile] fluidcomplexity.livejournal.com 2009-08-05 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! Made the sheet music for the exact same reason. Angst away, little child...

Thanks for the feedback, too - I just ran upstairs, sheet music in hand, to try and figure out what was wrong with the Câ™bars. My one conclusion: Nino writes his melodies that way to confuse people like me. XD Sorry, I don't even know what that chord in those bars actually is, I just clicked in some notes on Finale, thought 'hey, that sounds like it' and went with it. ^^"

Don't worry, I understood every word. Even 'dissonancy'. :D

Your transcription looks really good. We'll just wait and see if I'll be good at playing it, haha. But I'm excited to learn and practice this, I've been needing something new to learn and play.

BTW, I'd be more than happy if you did arrange a piano/vocal version does this count as inspiration? =D

Thank you so much for sharing this =)

[identity profile] fluidcomplexity.livejournal.com 2009-08-05 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! Glad to fill some sheet music needs.

I ended up starting on the piano/vocal yesterday, actually, but listening to the syllable-less, monotone voice on Finale playback is making my ears bleed, as is trying to pick out the little piano tidbits in the background...

But it might be up in a few days, we'll see. ^^

[identity profile] sidevocalist.livejournal.com 2009-08-06 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you for the jpeg version 8DDD Really.

But there are a couple of bars that bug me? D= I don't know. I'll point them out or something when I see you next - it's probably the actual song but when I play it on piano it's a bit jarring. n_n" I don't know. (I have a bad habit of changing sheet music to fit my needs. ._.)

Also, are there any particular parts that stick out, dynamics-wise? 'Cause I've just been playing things at mezzoforte/mezzopiano whenever I like to. XD (Or do you know where I could get a copy of the song so I can listen to it and figure out the dynamics? XD *is too lazy to look for it*)

But awesome transcribing in generaaaaal~ =D Even though there's one chord that bugs me 'cause I can't play it easily. .___. Stretches my left hand too much and too fast so I just play two notes instead of three. *cries* Can't reach the top note with my right hand either. Argh.

Also, I suck at playing chords smoothly. ._. I totally abused the pedal while playing to make the song sound like it was flowing, but it just ended up sounding like someone was playing with the faucet >_>

And this comment is too long XD Sorry.

[identity profile] fluidcomplexity.livejournal.com 2009-08-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Change away, I do that too. XD

I didn't put in any dynamics because 1) I was too lazy and 2) most people do without them. I don't actually have a copy of the song right now and I'm too lazy too, so sorry. >_<

The one chord, was it the B flat/B flat/D? I don't even really remember why I wrote the extra B flat in the bottom, I think it was supposed to segue more smoothly into the next section where all the left hand stuff is down an octave.

Yay for pedal abuse! XD

For sure! Send me a link when you're done, I'd love to give it a listen.
